uShaka Marine World has transformed the Point District of Durban into a marine wonderland and world–class leisure destination. The $125 million 40–acre theme park, set on a gorgeous strip of coast on the Indian Ocean, offers visitors a wide array of family entertainment options at its three signature attractions: Sea World, Wet N’ Wild, and Village Walk.
Sea World, in the centre of uShaka, ushers guests into a world of marine splendor. The focal point is the shipwrecked themed aquarium, the fifth largest aquarium in the world. Built inside a 1920’s inspired steamer, designed to appear as if it has run aground on uShaka Beach, the aquarium delights visitors with a fun and educational tour of our oceans. After enjoying the aquarium, the whole family can swim with marine life in the Snorkel Lagoon or take in a show at the 1,200–seat dolphin stadium, the largest dolphinarium in Africa.
At Wet N’ Wild, the gated water park, guests can splash around in pools or casually float down Adventure River. Adrenaline junkies can test their courage on fresh water slides like the heart–pumping Plunge freefall slide or engage in some friendly competition on the five–lane racer. There is also a beautiful sandy beach perfect for enjoying the fantastic views of the Indian Ocean.
The Village Walk provides guests with a unique African–themed shopping and dining experience. With more than 80 shops and restaurants, Village Walk offers a wide range of entertainment. Guests can dine in style at the fabulous Shark restaurant or simply wander around enjoying the crafts, clothing, curios on display.

Among the numerous awards bestowed upon uShaka Marine World, was the highly coveted International THEA award for Outstanding Achievement in the marine park category, awarded by the Themed Entertainment Association in 2004.

Our Role
We provided staff and resources to address all aspects of pre–opening design and operations programs, including marketing, ticket pricing and packaging, entertainment programming, food and beverage, merchandising, HR, and more. As one third partner in our joint venture management company for uShaka Marine World, ProFun remains actively involved in all phases of uShaka operations.
